Jerusalem Foundation of Canada Gala – Jerusalem 50th

Over 400 friends and supporters of Jerusalem in Toronto gathered together on June 5th at the Royal Ontario Museum to celebrate Jerusalem and to mark the 50th anniversary of reunification of the city.

Mayor Nir Barkat of Jerusalem and Mayor John Tory of Toronto spoke about the similarities between the two cities and shared their vision about challenges and opportunities facing Jerusalem and Toronto.  Senator Linda Frum moderated a discussion between the 2 Mayors who enlightened the guests with insight about academic, cultural and diverse cities.

The Gala hosted by co-chairs, Senator Linda Frum and  Howard Sokolowski, Michal and Sam Mizrahi and Eileen and Shoel Silver was a resounding success and created a great deal of excitement and enthusiasm for the city of Jerusalem.  Funds raised at the Gala will benefit the Jerusalem Cultural Quarter in the center of the city which will strengthen the economy and create natural meeting points for diverse populations.

Jerusalem Foundation International President, Yohanna Arbib-Perugia, spoke at the event and congratulated the Canadian Jewish community on their steadfast support for Jerusalem and thanked the Jerusalem Foundation of Canada Board of Directors and President Lewis Mitz for their amazing dedication and devotion in making this evening happen.
