The Big Apple in Jerusalem

The Big Apple In Jerusalem

The Big Apple in Jerusalem

I remember when my parents took me to my first opera.  We lived near Lincoln Center, the beating heart of Manhattan.  I was five, and I had never before seen a performance that made me long for nap time.

Fast forward twenty years  - and a bit, but who’s counting? I find myself living in Jerusalem, the beating heart of Israel. Both cities are my home, and both are home to a vibrant arts scene.  In Jerusalem, this scene has many supporters, from the Jerusalem Municipality, the Israeli government, and local and international philanthropies. One of the key supporters is the Jerusalem Foundation, also know as the place where I show up to work everyday. Working for the Jerusalem Foundation gives me a front-row seat to Jerusalem’s wide array of arts and culture.

Of course, there are still nights when I long for the subway and  get annoyed that the buses in Jerusalem stop running at midnight.  But I love writing, and I plan on updating this blog a few times a week, giving you “The Big Apple in Jerusalem” with reviews and tips on the hottest events going on in Jerusalem – all from my perspective, as a New Yorker who brings a bit of the Big Apple with her to Jerusalem, the city of gold.
