הנצחה של נפתלי (תלי) תשבי

Barak Joseph Reuven White was born in Jerusalem on November 22, 1991, a minute before that rainy and snowy winter.Barak was a member of the Bet Knesset Kol HaNeshama and he was educated in the spirit of the Movement for Progressive Judaism.

After completing his studies at the Beit Hinuch high School in Jerusalem, Barak was in the founding group at the Tavor preparatory school in Nazeret Illit.

Barak enlisted in the paratroopers and served in the 101st Battalion. Upon completion of his basic training, Barak was awarded the citation of the exemplary recruit. He then completed the ‘commander’s course’ in the paratroopers and was assigned to lead a group of new recruits.

Immediately before the outbreak of Operation Protective Edge Barak completed his army service.  He requested to return to his unit.  Upon approval, he joined his fellow paratroopers.

At the end of Operation Protective Edge, Barak enrolled in law and business studies at the Hebrew University. Before he began his studies, he traveled to Australia and India, where he met his wife.

After one semester in law, Barak decided on a different direction and enrolled in civil engineering studies at the Technion.

Barak loved his studies.  He focused on water engineering. Upon receiving his degree, he went on to study for a master’s degree in water engineering. He was also a teaching assistant at the Technion.

Barak’s focus was solving the significant problem of biological fouling in agricultural drip irrigation systems.  Experimenting with in-line ultraviolet light, he was successful in significantly reducing the fouling in dripper systems.  His work continues at the Technion.

Barak loved his work, his studies, nature, children, chess and Israel.

Barak died on May 16, 2022.  He was 30 years old.  He left a hole in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, his parents, brothers, sisters and two nephews.
