About the project
The Ohr Jerusalem (Jerusalem Light) Club is a club for the rehabilitation of the mentally disabled. The club is operated by Ohr Jerusalem Institutions, an organization founded in 1982 under the auspices of Rabbi Asher Freund, to offer alternatives to long-term hospitalization to ultra-Orthodox mentally disabled individuals. The organization operates five group apartments, provides vocational training and meals on wheels to help integrate patients into mainstream society. The Jerusalem Foundation supported renovation of the club in 2005.
