About the project
The Hot Meals for Schoolchildren Program provides hot meals for approximately 1,000 children in elementary schools, kindergartens and special education schools throughout the city. The Jerusalem Foundation created the program during the Al-Aqsa (Second) Intifada in 2001 to provide hot, nutritious lunches and a bit of comfort to children who were unlikely to receive another complete meal in the day. The program has continued over the years, serving children in the Gilo Aleph and Bet Elementary Schools, the Elsie & Peter Brandt School, the Argentina School, the Bertha Goodman (Broshim School), the Ruthie & Sam (Rimonim) Kindergarten and other schools.
