About the project
The Jerusalem Foundation supported research into Indian Jewry in 1978. The project was conducted by social and cultural anthropologist Shirley Berry Isenberg with ethno-musicologist Edith Gerson Kiwi and included recording of Cochin Jewish folk songs (a unique genre in the Malayalan language) and assembling historical photographs that eventually became part of collections of the Hebrew University.
