About the project
The Dental Clinics in Schools project provided equipment (chairs, x-ray machines and tools) to establish 19 dental clinics serving 60 out of the 75 schools then in existence throughout the city. In 1970, approximately 7,000 school-age children out of 11,000 requiring dental treatment were treated at the clinics. In the afternoons, the clinics served an estimated 1,000 needy elderly per month. The clinics were later consolidated into several municipal clinics.
