About the project
The Jerusalem Drug Detoxification Center is a center for hard drug addicts operated by the Association for the Relief of Drug Addiction. Until the time of this project, there was only one detoxification center in the country: a 12-bed facility located in Jaffa. The Jerusalem center was created by purchasing, renovating, furnishing and equipping a unique, 200-year-old stone house situated on the western slopes of the Jerusalem hills in the abandoned Arab village of Lifta. The center provides a protective and isolated environment for 12-16 residents at a time who stay an average of one month while medical staff and social workers help them to detox and to begin to recover from the effects of drug use.
