About the project
The Kangaroo Family Center is one of the programs within the “Adopt a Neighborhood” project . The Center is located in the complex of the local Katamon Community Center, but occupies its own building. This structure had recently been renovated and was an ideal place for the Jerusalem Foundation to establish its first “Kangaroo Family Center” which offers advice and enrichment facilities for young mothers and their children. For toddlers there is a fully equipped playroom with colorful foam blocks for the children to jump and roll around on, a TV room for those less boisterous, who want to watch their favourite programs., or if you really want to get involved, there’s a theatrical inactive storytime for children and parents. The Computer Room is well equipped and offers computer courses for children and parents to improve their computer skills and the cooking classes focus on healthy cooking and healthy foods as well as nutrition. The various courses and workshops that are available focus on family well being, and parenting skills for new parents, art workshops and cultural enrichment events. The exersise class is designed for mothers and toddlers, The center also offers individual parenting counseling.
