“The most powerful window into life in Israel” captivated audiences in Montreal, Winnipeg and Toronto

Jerusalem of Gold and Jerusalem of Iron – a special story presented by the Jerusalem Foundation of Canada with Israel Story – made its way across Canada from Montreal to Winnipeg to Toronto.  This tour was an opportunity to tell a story of hope and inspiration and especially during these challenging times, this is more important than ever.

Dr. Mishy Harman, co-founder of the Israel Story podcast and storyteller extraordinaire, brought together, the Djamchid sisters on cello and acoustic guitar, to create a unique performance combining, music, video, images, audio and a lot of heart and humour.

We told this story in Montreal at the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue, in Winnipeg at the Berney Theatre, Asper Jewish Community Campus, with the Rady JCC and The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs (CIJA), and in Toronto at Beth Sholom Synagogue, to sold-out crowds in each city.  These partnerships brought so many people together to hear about the activities of the Jerusalem Foundation and to experience the storytelling of Mishy and Israel Story.

And beyond the performances, we were able to meet with high school seniors at the Herzlyia High School in Montreal. In Winnipeg, we held a young adults reception at the Next Door Restaurant for a special evening of dinner and drinks in partnership with The Asper Foundation, and we held a VIP pre-reception at a Winnipeg Board Member’s home for drinks and presentation of both Mishy and the Jerusalem Foundation. In Toronto, people came together for an intimate conversation with Mishy in a Board Member’s living room.

We brought a message of hope and inspiration that even in dark days, there are human stories from all the diverse people of Jerusalem that bring us together and keep us connected in the amazing tapestry that makes up the city of Jerusalem.
