About the project

The Jerusalem Foundation has undertaken several projects to introduce spoken Arabic courses to Jewish youth as a way to further communication between the cityโ€™s Jewish and Arab communities. In 1978, it created the Arabic Language Course for Jewish Youth in 1978, which provided Arabic classes to Jewish children aged six-14 at the Caroline & Joseph Gruss Community Center and the Sally & Philip W. Lown Community Center. In 2004 it supported the Language as a Cultural Bridge project, which brought spoken Arabic courses to ten Jewish elementary schools.
