About the project
The Jerusalem Foundation has undertaken several projects to introduce spoken Arabic courses to Jewish youth as a way to further communication between the city’s Jewish and Arab communities. In 1978, it created the Arabic Language Course for Jewish Youth in 1978, which provided Arabic classes to Jewish children aged six-14 at the Caroline & Joseph Gruss Community Center and the Sally & Philip W. Lown Community Center. In 2004 it supported the Language as a Cultural Bridge project, which brought spoken Arabic courses to ten Jewish elementary schools.
