About the project
The goal of the Azrieli Institute for Educational Empowerment is to give each and every child the best opportunity to suceed and excel at their studies, whatever their socio-economic situation or learning disability. The program is designed to help support and overcome obstacles to learning, and is based on three important areas, academic skills, social skills, and family environment. There are many reasons why children fall behind in their studies and lose interest, pupils and teachers are both evaluated for the program, the pupils because they are struggling and the teachers because of their motivation, excellence and desire to push the younsters forward. The methodology of this program is to test the students at the end of each day to see what has been learned, as the material is still fresh in their mind they see that they are able to absorb and learn, this creates a positive learning experience for the student. Emphasis is on Hebrew and English language and mathmatics, and study is held both in groups and individually. Social support is also held as a group and on an individual basis, starting with strengthening self image, by creating a cohesive group, learning to work together, and respecting each other. At the end of the year the pupils are helped to choose a position in which they can volunteer and contribute something back to their own community. Parents are also required to show a level of commitment, meeting with councellors, becoming aware of different parenting techniques to help their children improve family relationships. The first schools choosen to launch this program is Givat Gonen School Jr. & High School, ORT Spanian, Esther Greenberg Comprehensive School, and Beit Hinuch Jr & High School.
