About the project
Beit Schweiz (Swiss House) is a housing facility for senior citizens established by the Jewish Agency in 1983 and operated by Idan, the Association of Community-Based Services for the Elderly in Jerusalem. The facility, located in the Katamon Chet neighborhood, provides 45 apartments to individuals and couples, most of whom are on low fixed incomes. Beth Schweiz enables the residents to remain as independent as possible, while also providing a house mother and a maintenance person. The Jerusalem Foundation supported renovations to Beth Schweiz in 2001, including repairs to the elevator and roof, installation of an intercom system and a heating/air conditioning system, and renovations to the garden and lobby. It has also created an endowment fund to support activities.
