About the project
The Belmonte Science Laboratories Center was created to raise the level of scientific study in the city’s high schools. The $3.5 million center is located on the Hebrew University’s Givat Ram campus, and is staffed by university professors and technicians. The facility includes three fully-equipped laboratories (one each for the study of biology, chemistry and physics) in which students from religious and secular, Jewish and Arab schools from throughout the city conduct experiments. Since its completion, the Jerusalem Foundation has supported activities at the center, including tutoring and scholarship programs. The center is part of the Jerusalem Foundation and the Hebrew University’s $25 million state-of-the-art Youth Science Complex that also includes the adjacent Joseph Meyerhoff Youth Center for Advanced Studies and Beit Bretter Youth Hostel, and the nearby Bernard M. Bloomfield Science Museum.
