About the project
The High School for the Arts was established in 1984 in a small building in the City Center to offer an academic education combined with inter-disciplinary and specialized studies in music, art, film, dance and theater arts. The Jerusalem Foundation supported renovations and the purchase of equipment for the school beginning in 1987, and in 1992 supported its relocation to a two-acre site immediately adjacent to the Liberty Bell Garden in the Cultural Mile. Work included renovation of the former Beit Hayeled Elementary School on the site, demolition of two small structures, construction of a new building, development of the surrounding area, construction of a sport court, purchase of equipment and furnishings and establishment of an endowment fund.
