About the project
The Jerusalem Foundation helped establish the East Jerusalem Aid Center in 2001 to help ensure that all Jerusalem residents, particularly Palestinians and foreign workers, receive the social welfare and health care benefits to which they are entitled. The center houses the offices of Physicians for Human Rights-Israel and Workers Hotline. Physicians for Human Rights advises individuals on disputes with health insurance providers, problems with eligibility for national health insurance and interactions with hospitals and child-care centers. The Workers Hotline provides assistance with employment conditions of foreign workers, including disputes with employers, non-payment of wages, mistreatment of workers, poor working conditions, and other infringement of employment laws and the rights of workers.
