About the project
Beginning in 1980, the Jerusalem Foundation supported a program of educational projects for women throughout the city. Projects included basic instruction in language, writing, reading, arithmetic and current events for women with no formal education, and instruction in sewing and other handicraft activities to help develop professional opportunities. Programs were held at community centers in Jewish neighborhoods, including Baka, Gilo, East Talpiot and Romema and at schools in Arab neighborhoods, including Bab e-Zahra, Beit Hanina and A-Tur.
