About the project

Every child waits excitedly for the last day of school and the start of the summer vacation..
The Summer Camp at Ein Yael Living Museum gives children a unique insight into ancient farming methods and crafts, offering hands on workshops in any number of ancient crafts, from pottery to basket and wool spinning and weaving, to cheese making, pita bread baking, winemaking, and the pressing of olives for oil.
The animal corner consists of goats and sheep where the children can learn animal husbandry, and the importance of animals and their by products in every day life.
Ein Yael offers three summer camp sessions over the two month summer break, the Jewish-Arab summer camp focuses on what both cultures have in common, sharing experiences, cooperation and team work.
For disadvantaged children , the opportunity to participate in such activities, having fun while learning new skills from one of the above mentioned workshops, plus communication and interaction with other children develops both self confidence and self esteem, camaraderie and a sense of achievement, after all, its not everyday you bake your own pita bread or squish olives for oil!
