About the project
THE ELSE ARNOLD SOUTH AMERICAN YARD was dedicated on the 30th November 1997 in the presence of the donor Gerard & Marlene Arnold.
The South American Yard is home to well known South American animals as well as the unusual. The idea to create “biotopes” throughout the zoo. Biotope is an area of uniform environmental conditions providing a living place for a specific assemblage of plants and animals. From the gentle natured Alpaca and Llama to the Capybara, semi aquatic, and the largest rodent in the world .
