About the project
The Hadassah-Women’s International Zionist Organization (WIZO) of Canada is a women’s volunteer organization founded in 1917 that is dedicated to the support of education, healthcare and social services in Israel and Canada. The organization established the Hadassah-WIZO Canada Research Institute, a special education research, training and service agency founded by Professor Reuven Feuerstein in Beit Hakerem. The institute holds conferences, provides training courses for parents, pediatricians and teachers and offers assessment, intervention and placement services. In 1986, the Jerusalem Foundation supported the institute’s Paradigmatic Clinic for Down’s Syndrome, which assesses, diagnoses and treats children with Down’s Syndrome through an innovative, interdisciplinary approach. The institute later moved to the Jerusalem Variety Center for Child & Family Development.
