About the project
Hillel-Open Gates, formerly known as the Association for Jews Leaving Ultra-Orthodoxy, was founded in 1991 to help young people who have made the decision to leave ultra-orthodoxy and are seeking help in integrating into mainstream Israeli society. The organization provides social and emotional support, educational aid, professional training and preparation for military service. The organization has branches in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem and a corps of 250 volunteers. The Jerusalem Foundation provided support for educational scholarships in 2003.
