About the project
In 1974, the Jerusalem Foundation supported research on municipal services provided for residents of east Jerusalem conducted by Professor Gerald Caplan of the Harvard Medical School Laboratory of Community Psychiatry and later, the Jerusalem Institute for the Study of Psychological Stress. Professor Caplan served as an advisor to the municipality to develop programs to meet the psychiatric needs of the Arab population. The Community Mental Health Program at the Wadi Joz Health Center was an outgrowth of his work.
