About the project
The Jerusalem Center for Treatment & Prevention of Violence in the Family was established by WIZO (the Women’s International Zionist Organization) in 1994 and is operated by the municipality’s Department of Welfare. The center takes a comprehensive approach to family violence, providing a volunteer hot-line, walk-in consultations, short- and long-term therapies and a shelter. The center provides educational programs for students, police, hospital workers and others and works to bring greater public attention to the problem of violence in the family. The Jerusalem Foundation supported the establishment of the center in 1994 and since then has provided support for furnishings and activities, including extracurricular and summer camp programs for children.
