About the project
The Jerusalem Council for Children & Youth was founded in 1984 to advocate for and initiate projects on issues related to the physical, social and educational well-being of Jerusalem’s children and youth. The organization focuses on the weaker segments of the population and on those issues that governmental agencies cannot address sufficiently. The Jerusalem Foundation has supported the organization’s research efforts, including its Jerusalem City of the Child Project, which examined existing facilities and services for special needs children to determine needs and to develop future programs, and its evaluation of a municipal program for children of prisoners.
