About the project
The Manofim festival was initiated in 2008 by Jerusalem-based artists from The Artists’ Studios. This week-long festival takes place all over the city at Jerusalem’s galleries, alternative art spaces and independent cultural centers, and plays a major role in showcasing Jerusalem’s vibrant independent art scene. Manofim provides critical exposure for the many talented artists working and living in the city, and strengthens the city’s image as a young, dynamic cosmopolitan center. The annual event encourages artistic collaboration and facilitates networking between artists of different disciplines. The festival also benefits Jerusalem’s residents and visitors by providing access to art and culture that is free of charge. The festival events take place in Talpiot, City Outskirts, Mishkenot Sha’ananim, Jaffa Road, House Project, The Seam, and Nachlaot. In addition to supporting local artists and showcasing Jerusalem’s lively art scene, one of the project’s main goals is to build a bridge between residents and artists of West and East Jerusalem through art. Manofim is managed by The Artists’ Studios, a nonprofit organization in Talpiot, Jerusalem. Founded by the Jerusalem Foundation in 1982, the Artists’ Studios provide subsidized studio spaces for outstanding emerging artists. The Art Cube Gallery at the Artists Studios is among Israel’s leading public art galleries.
