About the project
The Max Varon Music Scholarships are awarded annually to school-age children to help meet the costs of studying musical instruments. The scholarships are awarded for all instruments for students of every background from all neighborhoods. The scholarship program has grown over the years, from helping a few families each year in its early years, to benefitting 40 families with children studying at five conservatories, including the Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music & Dance, the Jerusalem Conservatory of Music & Arts – Hasadna and the Ron Shulamit Conservatory, in 2004. To date, it has assisted more than 2,000 children and their families. The scholarships were named in honor of ambassador and violinist Max Varon.
