About the project
In Israel, the public education system is ostensibly free but school fees charged at the high school level can reach $2,500 per year. Extra-curricular enrichment classes and private lessons can make a rounded education a costly venture. Gifted children from families who may be struggling economically, miss out on opportunities that would otherwise enable them to develop their talents and allow them to excel. The Excellence in Education program – Mentoring for Success helps gifted 7th & 8th graders by pairing them with university student “mentors”, sending them to enrichment programs and guiding them as they reach new scholastic goals – allowing these children a chance to attain their dreams.
