About the project
The Middle East Institute is a Washington, D.C.-based organization established by Middle East scholar George Camp Keiser and former Secretary of State Christian Herter in 1946. The institute includes the George Camp Keiser Library, home to the most comprehensive Middle East collection in Washington, DC, outside of the Library of Congress, publishes the Middle East Journal, offers language classes and runs a public policy center. In 1985, the Jerusalem Foundation supported a campaign to increase overseas subscriptions to the Jerusalem Quarterly, a journal published by the institute that included research, memoirs, book reviews and commentary on contemporary issues.
