About the project
The Jerusalem Foundation has supported outdoor concerts at different locations at various times. The first concert, which was held in the Old City in 1976 and featured the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra led by guest conductor Lukas Foss with pianist Emanuel Ax, drew 1,500 attendees. In later years, concerts were held at Liberty Bell Garden, at the Chutsot Hayotser International Arts & Crafts Fair and at various parks. Programs varied from chamber music ensembles to choirs and brass bands, primarily Jerusalem-based ensembles, but also groups from Israel and abroad.
