About the project
The Pargod (Curtain) Theater is a fixture in Jerusalem’s cultural scene. The theater was opened in 1969 as a space for avant-garde productions. Over the years, it expanded to a six-night schedule that encompassed poetry readings, chamber music, puppet theater, folk, jazz, rock music and more. Throughout the theater’s history, its founder and director, Arye Mark, has ensured that it remain a stage available to the newest and youngest aspiring performers. The Jerusalem Foundation has provided support to the theater at various times for building improvements, equipment and productions.
