About the project
Temurot, formerly known as Meimad, was established in 1993 by Rabbi Yehuda Amital, head of the Har Etzion Hesder Yeshiva, to renew religious Zionism. Temurot works within a religious Zionist framework to reduce the split between religious and secular Israelis, to strengthen the Jewish nature of the state in a manner that reflects broad consensus, to encourage openness and recognition of universal values including ethical and democratic values within religious education, to expand and develop Jewish content in general education, to educate the religious public towards a complex recognition of Judaism, to establish peace as a significant Jewish value irrespective of politics, to advance the status of women in all areas, and to raise consciousness concerning environmental protection.
