About the project
As its name suggests, the Sumatran Tiger originates from the Indonesia Island of Sumatra. The two Sumatran tigers in the Biblical Zoo however come from much closer to home. The female “Chana” was aquired from the Ramat Gan Safari Park, and the male “Avigdor” from Germany’s Wuppertal Zoo.
The Sumatran tiger is the smallest of all the tiger subspecies , and is endanger of becoming extinct. There are only 400 – 500 individuals left in the world.
