About the project
Gan Ya’ir (Ya’ir’s Garden) was created in 1983 in memory of Shmu’el Ya’ir Landau, who was killed during Operation Peace for Galilee on June 11, 1982 at the age of 23. The garden originally was located near Binyanei Ha’uma (the Jerusalem Convention Center). In 2007, construction of a new road to the state government complex caused the Foundation to create a new garden on a nearby site between Biyanei Ha’uma and the Foreign Ministry building, below the Crown Plaza Hotel. The new garden consists of a raised stone plaza with landscaping, a pergola and benches.
