About the project
Project Young Neighborhood was established to generate change in the “personality” of Jerusalem neighborhoods, transforming them into a network of youth-oriented/family-friendly communities that will impact the city of Jerusalem as a whole. The first four target neighborhoods – selected for their potential as a place for young adults to live and raise families – are: French Hill; East Talpiot; Kiryat HaYovel; and Gonenim (Katamonim).
The Young Adults Center has developed a unique work plan tailored specifically to capitalize on the character of each particular neighborhood and to promote the necessary demographic change. In each case, a multi-faceted promotional campaign has been initiated that includes: Branding the area as a “young neighborhood”; expansion of early childhood/preschool educational options; enhancement of leisure and entertainment opportunities; creating action groups for young families to achieve their common goals.
