About the project

The new Canada House in Morasha exemplifies the transformative power of a dynamic community centre to impact the city centre area and the city of Jerusalem as a whole. Dedicated by the Jerusalem Foundation of Canada, Canada House represents a vibrant nucleus of people and programming that both reflects and empowers the diverse populations and needs of Jerusalem society. Canada House stands today as a “buzzing” place, flush with energy, where young and old, religious and secular, students and entrepreneurs, new immigrants and veteran Israelis – residents of the Morasha neighborhood and beyond – interact with and learn from each other as they build their lives in Jerusalem.

The IFCJ Community Services Floor primarily addresses the needs of the elderly and youth of the Morasha neighborhood. Its facilities include:The Reitman Seniors Centre; the Gorman–Shore Learning Centre; the Freedman Teen Club and Youth Services; the Weisfeld Computer Centre; the Italian Friendship Garden in honor of Anthony Tafuro; the Canada Club; the Silver accessibility elevator.

The Koschitzky Young Adults Centre has been designated by the Municipality as the official young adults’ centre of the city of Jerusalem. It serves as the central headquarters for programs and projects to advance the personal, social, communal, and professional goals of Jerusalem’s young adult population. Facilities include: The Kimel Information & Activity Centre; the Wynn Business Centre; Project Springboard: Building Jewish Identity & Empowerment in Jerusalem’s Ethiopian Young Adults Community; the Yaacov Gladstone Leadership Development Centre; the Gideon-Wyler Volunteer Centre; Personal/Professional Development Initiative;  Bishvili; East Jerusalem Empowerment; Connect; Project Young Neighbourhood.

“Canada House is an important addition to the community services in Jerusalem and the Koschitzky Young Adults Centre spearheads the efforts of the Jerusalem Foundation and the Municipality to support young people in the city.” – Mayor Nir Barkat
