About the project
The Broshim (Cypresses) School is an elementary school for children with severe learning disabilities located in the village of Ein Kerem. The approximately 100 children aged 6-12 who attend the school suffer from dyslexia, attention deficit disorder and other disabilities often coupled with behavioral, verbal or emotional problems. The school works to tailor programs to meet individual needs with the goal of integrating students into the mainstream education system. The Jerusalem Foundation supported a major renovation and development project at the school’s historic building and rededicated it as the Bertha Goodman School in 1988. Since then, it has supported several improvement projects, including construction of a playground in 1994 and construction of the Lord Arnold Goodman Hall, a gymnasium, in 1996. It also has supported extracurricular enrichment activities in music, carpentry, theater and more.
