It has become a tradition in recent years that every Canadian delegation to Jerusalem for a Jerusalem Foundation conference, comes 1 day early to spend a bit of extra time exploring the connection of the Jerusalem Foundation of Canada to our beloved city.
With some delay, we were delighted to welcome the 27 member strong Canadian delegation to Jerusalem on October 19th, 2026. We started our special day at the entrance to Julia’s Lane – Canada Pathway and walked the path from the Inukshuk to Canada House to the Naggar-Musrara School of Art and Society on the Ronnen Harary Campus. It was a moving morning re-visiting the pathway named for past JF Canada President, Julia Koschitzky z’l who left an incredible legacy of giving, leadership, kindness, grace and elegance.
The delegation was inspired once again by the activities at Canada House for children, elderly, youth and young adults and was very happy to view the newest exhibit being installed from the Naggar-Musrara School on the 3rd floor of Canada House.
We left the Canadian quarter of Jerusalem and traveled to the home of Debbie and Sam Moed in Old Katamon. Debbie is a member of the Jerusalem Foundation, Inc Board of Directors in the USA and she and Sam hosted the Canadian and American delegations for a lovely lunch. It was good to see that we all share the same love for Jerusalem and Lake Ontario….
From there the Canadian/USA delegations traveled together to the Hebrew University Givat Ram campus to visit the Old National Library building housing some of the exhibitions of the Jerusalem Biennale. Ram Ozari, the Founder and Director of the Biennale hosted us and toured us through the exhibitions.
In the evening, Joel and Jill Reitman hosted a very special Canadian Welcome Dinner at the home of Ronnen Harary in the heart of Jerusalem. We were joined by Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion, who came especially to welcome the Canadians to Jerusalem, as well as the Canadian Ambassador to Israel, the Hon. Leslie Scanlon.
