About the project

The A-tur Preparatory School for Boys is a junior and senior high school serving east Jerusalem. The Jerusalem Foundation supported a project to transform the school into a regional school for sciences. Work included creation of a library and computer, physics, biology and chemistry laboratories, and involved hiring an organizational consultant to develop a multi-year strategy to improve the school, extra assistance for weaker students and field trips to the Belmonte Science Laboratories Center and the Bernard M. Bloomfield Science Museum. The school’s matriculation scores rose from 10% in 2003 to 44% in 2006.
