About the project

Amcha, the Israeli Center for Holocaust Survivors and their Families, was founded in 1987 by a group of Dutch Holocaust survivors. Since then, the organization has grown to encompass branches in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and Be’ersheva as well as satellite locations across Israel. Amcha provides social clubs, support and discussion groups, documentation projects and telephone hotlines through its professional staff of social workers, therapists and psychologists and hundreds of volunteers. The Jerusalem Foundation has supported subsidized counseling services and other activities at Amcha’s Jerusalem branch, where approximately 350 people undergo psychotherapy treatment each year.
