About the project

The “Community Garden” program is growing in strength, and there are now more than forty community gardens throughout the city. Each community garden reflects the needs and wishes of its surrounding population. Some prefer herbs and flowers while others want vegetables, or shady trees, pathways and benches, whatever the community chooses the benefit is felt by everyone involved, young or old everyone works shoulder to shoulder to create their own community’s mini “Garden of Eden”, strengthening community fabric and creating a protected habitat for animals and plants.
Empowering and encouraging residents to take care of their immediate environment, and a sense of neighborhood pride and achievement. Garden meetings take place once or twice a week, and there are now six community gardens cooperating with each other developing a network of relevent information with neighborhoods involved in this project.
