About the project

The Jerusalem Foundation supported early childhood programs in more than ten community centers beginning in 1990, with particular emphasis on programs for children of recent immigrants from the former Soviet Union. Foundation support enabled the hiring of professional staff and the acquisition of equipment. The program was intended to provide time for recent immigrants to look for work, take language courses and manage other absorption issues while helping young immigrant children integrate into Israeli society from the earliest age.
