About the project

House of Wheels is a center for disabled children, youth and young adults between the ages of 12 and 30, the majority of whom suffer from muscular dystrophy and cerebral palsy. The center provides weekend-long programs that include classes in drama, journalism, video, art and music and summer programs that include activities from which the disabled are usually precluded, such as camel riding, kayaking and camping. The center is one of four facilities operated by the Shai Society for the Rehabilitation and Support of Disabled Children, which works with a corps of 300 volunteers, mainly students between the ages of 22 and 28. The Jerusalem Foundation has supported the center’s summer camp program.
