About the project

The Ilan Residential Home for Handicapped Young Adults is a national hospice opened in Gilo Bet in 1988 for 68 severely disabled adults, including married couples, in need of nursing care. The home, which is operated by Ilan, enables its residents to live independently within a communal setting and provides employment in a variety of handicrafts, social and sports activities and para-medical treatments. The Jerusalem Foundation has supported activities and provided equipment since 1993 and supported construction of a hydrotherapy pool at the home in 2000. The pool provides a safe environment for recreation and physiotherapy and was the first such pool in Jerusalem to be designed specifically for disabled adults.
