About the project
The Jerusalem Foundation created the Neve Ya’acov Community Development Program in 1987 as a multi-year, multi-faceted effort to improve social services and the quality of life in the Neve Ya’acov neighborhood. Projects for children with special needs, new immigrant families, youth at risk, and other residents included the Kidum Program at the Dorothy Levine Mother & Child Care Center, creation of computer laboratories in three elementary schools including the Elsie & Peter Brandt School, support for the purchase of instruments and subsidies for private music instruction of hundreds of second, third and fourth graders, and support for weekly rehearsals of the Jerusalem Oratorio Choir.
