About the project
The Oud Festival is an annual event established in 2000 to bring the oud, a unique stringed instrument, and the cultures in which it is played to center stage. The two-week-long festival is produced by the Zionist Confederation House, a cultural institution that produces and offers programs in ethnic music, world music, literature, poetry and Jewish thought. Concerts are held at Confederation House, the Jerusalem Center for the Performing Arts (the Jerusalem Theater), the Jerusalem Film Center (the Cinematheque), and Beit Shmu’el-Mercaz Shimshon. Over a period of just a few years, the festival has become one of the major world music events in Israel.
