About the project

The Pontifical Biblical Institute is an international Catholic institution of higher learning established in Rome in 1909. The institute offers study and research programs in biblical and ancient near eastern disciplines.The institute established a Jerusalem branch in 1927 that serves as a base of operations for students and professors of the institute that are studying temporarily in Israel. The branch has a library and a museum, for which the Jerusalem Foundation provided support in 1977.
