About the project
Traditionally, young adults of Jerusalem’s Haredi sector have followed the community norm, choosing a long-term commitment to a life choice of advanced Torah learning and early marriage that precluded their following the army/university/career path of their non-Haredi compatriots. Since the 1990s, however, the population has diversified, with more educational, military and professional opportunities being offered, and utilized, by members of the community. But those Haredi young adults (currently about 4,000) who do choose to follow one of these new options face unique challenges, including: insufficient academic background; differing social and cultural norms; lack of family support. Project Build the Future will provide a full support system, including coaching, courses, workshops, uniquely tailored to enabling young members of the Haredi sector to fulfill their potential both as individuals and as an integral part of greater Israeli society.
