About the project
The Rene Cassin Municipal High School is a major secular high school that serves Ramat Eshkol, French Hill and other northern neighborhoods. At the time of its construction, the school had the largest student population of any high school in the city–approximately 2,000. The Jerusalem Foundation supported the creation of the Center for Computer Studies at the school in 1986 and renovations and equipment for an activities room in 1987. During afterschool hours, the school serves as home to Everyman’s University, a distance learning school affiliated with the Open University of Israel that is designed to enable working people to pursue academic studies alongside their professional and personal obligations. The school principal for many years was Mordechai Cohen, co-founder of the Kerem Institutue for Teacher Training.
