About the project

The Gilo Elementary School Gilo is a secular public school. The Jerusalem Foundation supported creation of the Weiler Library, a public library branch in the school in 1988. The library served neighborhood residents and students of the school (it also served students of the Gilo Elementary School Bet, until that school created its own library in 1990.) Work included renovations to convert the former school cafeteria and purchase of furnishings, books and audio-visual equipment. In 1998, the Foundation added a music corner to the library. Due to declining use by the general public, the library was later converted to a school library only, and the adult books and other public library material was moved to the Leo Model Library.
